The hammer will be laying over the magazine housing opening and prevent the magazine from inserting all of the way. Also, if you insert a magazine, it will not lock in. If you did not cock back the hammer, pulling the bolt back will not cock the gun. I have accidentally done this a couple of times. Other wise, the hammer will lay all of the way forward, flat on the bottom of the lower receiver and bolt will not cock back the hammer. Make sure that anytime you assemble the upper to the lower receiver that the hammer is cocked back. That is one of the reasons the semi-auto M-11s have a rubber sleeve over the trigger. This is the cause of "Trigger Slap" on some M-11 semi-auto pistols, and it can be uncomfortable to shoot. When you pull the bolt back while keeping the trigger pulled hard, you may notice that the trigger is forced forward just a little bit before the secondary sear catches the hammer. Now, when you pull the trigger, the hammer will be released and strike the firing pin (firing the gun, if it is loaded). When you release the trigger, you will hear a "click" as the secondary sear releases the hammer and the primary sear catches it. Release the bolt forward while still keeping the trigger held back. If you hold the trigger back hard while pulling back the bolt, the secondary sear will catch the hammer. Pull the trigger and the hammer will fire. Without touching the trigger, and pulling the bolt back, the primary sear will catch the hammer and keep it held back in the cocked position. On the semi-auto M-11 pistol, each time you pull the bolt back, one of the sears will catch the hammer and hold it back.
FIRING A OPEN MAC 10 9MM FULL
I tried doing a five round test fire on M11 I bought, first shot was great but after ejecting a round and what I feel was a recycle there was nothing.Firearm must have not re cocked or cycled far enough?I have tried to figure it out and with all other pistols I own (hk p30 usp to name a couple) I can dry fire one while keeping the trigger depressed(how i take shots usually)and then cycle it back like it was being cycled regularly and then release the trigger to reengage the mechanism and fire another shot. With the M11 I can cycle it then fire and if I hold the trigger it will stop the cycle before recocking, but still enough to eject a snapcap. In order for it to cycle far enough for the reset of the hammer it has to release the trigger out quite a bit.So AM i supposed to release the trigger everytime I fire it?Or is there a problem with the pistol?I took it apart and the hammer and sear seem to look new with very little wear.Being they make this full auto I would think it should be able to be cycled while trigger is at least by knowledge.
